Stardust

"Love is our stardust, guiding us back to where we belong" CJB

CJB.today music artist single cover for Stardust song

We came from stardust, and we will return
Until that day, souls will yearn

I never saw this coming
I never knew it could be
That a person with your smile
Could fall for a person like me

But when the stars were aligned
Our fates were set, intertwined
You were the star I couldn't trust
To guide me back to stardust

I never felt so much pain
The day you married that guy
And for too many years
I couldn't understand why

But when the stars were aligned
Our fates were set, intertwined
You're now the one I would trust
To guide me back to stardust

I've never felt so much hope
I've never known so much glee
It comes from that feeling
When your love sets me free

When the stars were aligned
Our fates were set, intertwined
You're the only one I can trust
To take me back to stardust

How you came back to me
I'll never want for more
All I remember is how you stood, alone at my door
Your eyes were like fire
Your lips red as wine
I knew from that moment
Life was turning sublime

CJB Creator Notes:

Oh, where do I even begin with this? First, a huge thanks again to the creative #vss365 community, and especially to GoRhyme for the "DUST" prompt on 12 Jan 2025, which inspired this song. I am always so grateful to be part of such a vibrant community.

Many songwriters share stories of how they compose their songs, and for me, this period is particularly fascinating. Amidst so much happening, the main theme in my life right now is caring for my dad. Those who have been full-time carers will understand how it impacts your spare time without me needing to elaborate. Lately, I find myself staying up until 01:00 am to carve out uninterrupted creative time.

This song, therefore, was born in the quiet of the night, a time when feelings of heartache 💔 and love ❤️ seem to intensify as dreams begin to tug at the edges of our waking consciousness. I share this to provide context to the lyrics.

Initially, feeling emotional, I set out to write a song that was 100% optimistic. However, as the night deepened, I realized the song's story needed a touch more emotion to resonate truly.

Here's where the ending comes from. You know me; I'm frighteningly open and honest (just check out my dating experience post!). So, I'll be candid: the ending was inspired by a memory from after my ex-wife suddenly cut me out of her life.

I won't sugarcoat it; before my awakening, I was left traumatized by my divorce, to the point of PTSD. My deepest wish at the time was for her decision to leave to have been a mistake. I dreamed she would return to me, appearing at my door with eyes blazing and lips as red as wine, as they often were. But that reunion never happened.

Since then, I've awakened to truly understand how to navigate such heartbreak. Creativity has been my solace, and writing this song was cathartic and very artistic too! Although, the ending made me cry, which is my soul's way of telling me it had to be my next Spotify release! 🎶

At first, I wasn't sure about it; I thought it was too soft. But like a good melody, it grows on you with each listen.

I hope you enjoy "Stardust." While I've shared my personal journey of heartbreak, like all my creations, this song is crafted for you to explore your own mind, body, and soul. Whatever you're dealing with, I hope this song helps unearth it, aids in your healing, and brings a smile of hope to your face 🌈.
