Us
Let love lead you back to joy...
Your eyes had an ostensible purpose which lied to love.
Your smile was a mojo-cocktail, perfumed with hidden scents.
Scraping the barrel of memories, I search blurred visions of "us",
I find the ego clashes with the bitterness on my tongue.
I imagine an alternate life of "us", still together, still deeply in love.
And I choose to focus on the candy glaze your eyes had on first sight.
Oh how my heartbeats vibrated with each delivered messageβ
I WANT IT ALL BACK! I want it all backβ
It cannot be good for me to continue such delusions of "us";
Instead I'll lay "us" to rest with the final kiss we never had.
If tears still fall, I'll taste the joy we had, and the joy another may bring.
Thank you for the goodness, which has grown my love of art,
and the beat of "us" will continue within our daughter's heart.
