Drive The Car!
Love is always there for you (especially when you think you cannot feel it)...
The blood-stained silence shouts -
CALL AN AMBULANCE!
My father's soul reacts.
Values of resilience engage.
And in the red corner,
we have an aged contender:
the undisputed champion of -
CALL AN AMBULANCE!
Time rewinds.
A vale of history covers the screams.
A Nazi soldier pushes my father back in line,
and smiles an opposite meaning,
a weary child stumbles back in line, crying -
CALL AN AMBULANCE!
Time pops the bubble of seconds...
"What's his name, date of birth, address?"
The hot plastic backing of my phone sticks to my cheek.
I push out his details so love can give birth to caring -
"HALT!" -
But he's back in line!
Please don't hurt him -
HELP HIM!
A dizzy spell is cast in the circle of car tires rolling over echoing tarmac.
"I'll get you there dad..."
Heavy nausea pushes us back in line,
and smiles an opposite meaning.
My soul powers take the steering wheel -
DRIVE THE CAR!
DRIVE THE CAR!
KEEP ON GOING OR YOU WON'T GET VERY FAR!
The car door slams, air is crushed,
I feel so sick, I just can't be rushed...
...INTERMISSION (Take care of your health,
don't let it slip, stay on top, don't lose grip)...
Thankfully, we made it home, wooden gates are now closed,
My soul carried us through the deleted night unopposed.
For 24 hours human animals kept hitting the ropes,
and every hour two loving souls bounced back.
A blood-stained pillow whispers morning dreams,
making a heavenly light out of an evil black.
A knockout blow for my father never landed,
Love fought in our corner so we never felt stranded.
If you doubt you can live through your worst nightmare today,
know you're more than the bad thoughts blocking your way.
