Auxiliary Support!
Auxiliary Support!

Looking for kindness not the evil sort.
Do you love, do you care, do you really give aโ€” damn?
Is your heart as heavy as a battering-ram?

Auxiliary Support!
Auxiliary Support!

We need you, we seek you,
Wanna play in this court?

Flexible approach needed for anyone sick:
Stop them eating sugar after their diabetes prick!

Are you fit, healthy, want to stop me being alone?
Great, grab a coat, and put down your heated phone!

I am ready for your loving, for your smile and helping hands,
Hurry over to my house, I feel my legs swelling and my glands!

Oh man, I think you're too late, you better phone a medic,
I didn't realize I had become such a dithering relicโ€”

Okay, stop this dad, I am by your side, I have been from the start,
Remember you came to live with me, it started with your heart.

I love you now more than ever before, but you're driving me flipping mad,
Shit did I just say those words aloud, ignore themโ€” I love you dad.

I know, in time, this crazy phase will lead to something pure,
Until that day, I will continue to care as if I am your cure.

"The reason I LOVE creating is it helps you work through challenging times. This poem and song reflect my experience of caring for my 95 year old dad. But do not read too much into itโ€” it is a creation! It is not supposed to be an exact replication of my situation. Which is again why I love creating poetry and art, they are a perfect way to get stuff off your chest without it having to match life 100%, they call it artistic license, and the point of this poem is for other carers to know that there are many people out there struggling with caring for someone; if you are struggling then know you are not alone, together we will get through any tough times. I would love to see your poetry and art which has helped you cope in some way, don't forget to use the #creating365 tag on social media when you post it and copy me inโ€” look me upโ€” I am usually @CJBtoday. Before I go I just wanted to add a little more context. The poem is supposed to be in two parts, the first part is the elderly person seeking auxiliary support because they are finding things are getting tough, and then half way through it is supposed to be their son who is actually caring for them already and is their auxiliary support, revealing that the father is forgetful and getting a little confused. Hopefully you guessed that! But just wanted to be sure it made sense"
